Obituary of Michael James Keenan

Michael James Keenan Olean, NY Michael James Keenan passed away Monday (October 26, 2015) at the Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born September 20, 1947 in Olean, he was the son of James and Helen (née Schwab) Keenan. Surviving are his wife Paula; a son Patrick (Antoinette Kraus) Keenan of Philadelphia; a sister-in-law Theresa Keenan of Olean and his nephews James Keenan and Daniel Keenan and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother William Keenan. Michael was a graduate of Archbishop Walsh High School and later graduated from St. Bonaventure University with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He spent over 20 years in the United States Army and Army Reserve, retiring as a master sergeant. He also worked for 31 years for the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services. He enjoyed home improvement projects and gardening. He was an Eagle Scout and later a Cub Scout leader. At Michael's request, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am on Thursday (October 29, 2015) at St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church, 202 S. Union St. Olean, NY 14760; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105; or to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517 Topeka, KS 66675.
