Rosemary Havers
Winter Haven, FL -- Rosemary Havers of 276 Red Bay Place, Winter Haven Fl, formerly of Allegany, passed away Tuesday (June 23, 2009) at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, FL after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born August 18, 1946 in Jamestown, NY, she was the daughter of Thomas and Eloyce Grey Augustine. She married William Michael "Mike" Havers, who survives.
Mrs. Havers attended St. Bonaventure Parochial School and graduated from Allegany High School. She later graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor's Degree. She was a resident of Allegany until moving to the Winter Haven area in 2000.
Mrs. Havers retired from Washington West Elementary School in Olean after teaching 2nd and 4th grades for 33 years. She continued her teaching career when she moved to Florida where she taught for 5 years at the Snively Elementary School in Winter Haven, retiring in 2008 due to ill health.
Mrs. Havers loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cooking for others, and was a fabulous cook. She was passionate about teaching and was a life member of the National Educational Association.
Surviving besides her husband are her mother Eloyce Marsh of Jamestown, 1 son Michael Havers of Winter Haven, Fl; 2 daughters Amy (Joseph) Baransky of Auburndale, FL and Beth Havers of Winter Haven, FL; 3 grandchildren Elizabeth Havers, Maria Rose Baransky, Joseph G. Baransky; 6 brothers and sisters Dr. Thomas (Chris) Augustine of Orchard Park, Eloyce (William) Bate of Reston, VA, Kathy Augustine of Jamestown, Dr. Timothy (Suzanne) Augustine of East Aurora, Marybeth Augustine of Jamestown, Gina (Richard) Tojek of Albion, NY and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean, on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9pm Funeral services will be held Tuesday (June 30, 2009) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Bonaventure Church. Fr. Richard Husted, OFM, pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorials if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
