Marilyn A. Burke "Beloved mother and grandmother"
Allegany, NY-- Marilyn A. Burke, 77, formerly of 401 Alder Ct. in Olean passed away Saturday (June 13, 2009) in the Absolut of Allegany after a long illness.
Born December 16, 1931 in Waltham, Mass., she was the daughter of William Burke and Madeline Scheck Burke.
Mrs. Burke earned her business degree in 1986 from Olean Business Institute and had been employed by the Cattaraugus County Council On Alcohol and Substance Abuse from 1987 until her retirement in 2002.
She enjoyed traveling and reading. She had a love for the ocean.
She is survived by 3 daughters Marilyn Oldro Sherwin of Olean, Jackie Oldro Swick of Limestone and Laura Oldro (David) Doner of Salamanca; 3 sons Barry Oldro of Davenport, FL, William (Kathy) Oldro of Omaha, NE and James (Barbara) Oldro of State College, PA; 21 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 2 brothers William Burke and Robert Burke, both of Waltham, MA; 3 sisters Lorraine, Madeline and Beverly, all of Waltham, MA and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a grandson Mark Swick and a granddaughter Beauti Faith Ash West.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday (June 16, 2009) from 10:00am until 11:00am. Funeral services will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Jay Gilbert, pastor of the Rock of Revelation Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials in the form of floral tributes for the funeral will be appreciated.
