Dorothy M. "Dot" Giardini
"Beloved mother and grandmother"
Allegany, NY-Dorothy M. "Dot" Giardini, of 116 N. 5th St. died Thursday (February 19, 2009) in the San Clemente Hospital in California shortly after arrival.
Born September 30, 1921 in Oil City, PA she was the daughter of Ralph and Lettie Beery Goodman. In June 1948 in Limestone, NY she married Bert Giardini who predeceased her.
Mrs. Giardini moved to Allegany in 1952 where she worked for numerous employers, her favorite being for Leo's Market in Olean where she made many friends. She then co-owned and operated The Village Inn in Hazel Hurst, PA for several years prior to her retirement. She moved back to Allegany in 2000 and had been residing with her daughter in Simi Valley, CA at the time of her death.
She was a former member of the Episcopal Church while she resided in Eldred and she loved playing bingo.
Surviving are 1 daughter Judy (Robert) Steiger of Simi Valley, CA; 1 son Karl (Kay) Kiffer of Allegany; 9 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; 2 brothers Ray Goodman of Eldred, PA and Lyle (Arlene) Goodman of Aurora, IL and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 1 brother Ronald Goodman and 2 sisters Jane Bailey and Arlene Scheiterle.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. state Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (February 26, 2009) at 11:00am in the funeral home. The Reverend Philip G. Houghton, rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
