Obituary of Dorothy Duffy

Dorothy Ash Duffy Webster, NY-Dorothy Ash Duffy, formerly of Winters Avenue in Olean, died Saturday (January 24, 2009) in Webster. Born December 5, 1926 in Cleveland, OH she was the daughter of Edward and Cecelia Fritsch Ash. In November 1960 at St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean she married Martin Duffy who survives. Mrs. Duffy attended St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from Olean High School. She was a resident of Olean most of her life, having moved to Rochester in 2001. She had been employed by the former New York Telephone Co. in Olean where she worked in the office and as a switchboard operator. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and enjoyed cooking, reading and doing jig saw puzzles. She especially loved the time she spent with her grandchildren. Surviving besides her husband are 1 daughter Kathleen (Mark) Peterson of Webster; 4 granddaughters Shannon, Megan, Erinn and Liann; 1 sister Madge Ash of Olean; 3 brothers Edward Ash of Olean, Donald (Elaine) Ash of Arcadia, CA and Michael (Christine) Ash of Springville, FL and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 1 sister Gail Snyder. There are no scheduled services at this time. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to Homecare and Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760 or to a charity of the donor's choice. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
