Floyd Earl Hurlburt
Allegany, NY Floyd Earl Hurlburt, 87, formerly of Colonial Village, passed away Wednesday (February 18, 2015) at the Bradford, PA Ecumenical Home where he had been a resident for the past eight years.
Born August 29, 1927 in Panama in Chautauqua County he was the son of John Francis and Hazel Belle Earle Hurlbert. On February 21, 1953 he married D. Alice Teuscher who predeceased him in 1960.
Floyd attended schools in Chautauqua County and was a jack-of-all trades, having worked as a farmer, machinist, logger and truck driver. He was proudest of his military service, having served in both the US Marines from 1945 to 1946 and the US Army from 1948 until 1949.
Surviving are 3 children Kathleen (David) Boser of Allegany, Mark (Patricia) Hurlburt of Callahan, FL and Louis Johnston of Richmond, VA; 5 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a sister Alene Marie Barrus of Fredonia and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a son Michael Hurlburt in 2001; a great grandson Noah Boser in 2002 and 3 sisters Paulyne Hurlburt, Mary Jean Hurlburt and Virginia "Mary Belle" Hurlburt (presumed deceased).
Friends will be received on Saturday (February 21, 2015) from noon to 3pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will follow at 3pm in the funeral home. Rev. Daniel McDowell, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Olean, will officiate.
