Portville, NY Judith A. "Judy" Curran of 9618 Nouvoo Rd. passed away peacefully Sunday (November 23, 2014) at Cuba Memorial Hospital's Comfort Care Unit, surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 12, 1954 in Olean she was the daughter of Gerald L. and Arlene R. Phillips Ford. In May 1975 she married her high school sweetheart and soul mate Kevin Curran who survives.
Judy was a 1972 graduate of Allegany Central School and of Alfred State College in 1974. During her later working years she completed a bachelors degree in 2000 from the PACE program at Houghton College.
From 1974-1979 she worked for the Hysol Corporation in customer service that later became Dexter Corp, Loctite and then Henkel-Loctite Co. With them she worked from 1979 to 2008 in the accounting department and later retired in 2011 from the customer service division.
She was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church in Portville, now Sacred Heart Oratory as well as St. Mary of the Angels Church in Olean. Judy loved doing anything outdoors including walking miles with her sister Jan. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading and truly loved sharing a cold beer and a good laugh, especially with her Dad. Her passion was in being a Mom and Grandma. Family was the most important part of her life.
Surviving besides her husband is her father; two daughters Kaitlin (John) Speta of Richmond Hill, GA and Kristin (Lucas) Flachs of Stamford; a granddaughter Lydia Flachs; her sister and best friend Jan Howard of Allegany; several nieces and one nephew; several great nieces and nephews and her special friends Mary Rich and Karen Weidt.
She was predeceased by her mother in 2010 and her beloved brother-in-law Fred Howard in 2000.
Friends may gather with the family from 3-7pm on Friday at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday (November 29, 2014) at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Oratory in Portville. Rev. David Tourville, associate pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
