Mary E. Adams Mt. Morris, NY Mary E. Adams, formerly of Amity Lake Road in Belmont and a recent resident of the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation, passed away Tuesday (September 23, 2014). Born February 12, 1916 in Olean she was the daughter of John and Lucy Chapus. On July 3, 1936 at St. John's Church in Olean she married W. Mallery Adams who predeceased her January 31, 2009. Mrs. Adams was a graduate of Olean High School and shortly after her marriage she resided in Wellsville. She then moved to Rochester in 1946 and worked for the former Sibley's Department Store. Upon her husband's retirement from Eastman-Kodak she moved to Belmont. She enjoyed growing a vegetable and flower garden each year, sewing, crocheting and doing crafts, and she especially enjoyed traveling with her husband. Surviving are 2 daughters Connie (Don) Koehler of Hornell and Sharon Oyer of Honeoye Falls; 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son John M. Adams on November 24, 1998; 2 sisters Margaret Anderson and Jean Kwiatkowski and 3 brothers Joseph Chapus, Alphonse Chapus and George Chapus. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 5-8pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A prayer service will be held Friday (September 26, 2014) beginning at 10:30am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at St. John's Church. Rev. Edward Sheedy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
