Obituary of Thomas McCaffery

Thomas E. McCaffery "Loving husband, father and grandfather" Allegany, NY Thomas E. McCaffery of 1986 Four Mile Rd. passed away unexpectedly Thursday (August 28, 2014) shortly after arrival at Olean General Hospital. Born December 22, 1933 in Olean he was the Son of Edward V. and Velma Clark McCaffery. On October 2, 1954 in St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany he married Anita B. Helmert who survives. Mr. McCaffery was a 1951 graduate of Allegany High School and early in his career he worked for the former Clark Brothers Co. in the drafting department. He then was self-employed in the tree service business and later operated McCaffery Septic Service. He also worked for several years for the Village of Allegany prior to his retirement. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and formerly volunteered for the Allegany Fire Department. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting and shooting. Surviving besides his wife are two children, Jeffrey (Teresa) McCaffery of Allegany and David (Deborah) McCaffery of Titusville, FL; 18 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 niece and 1 nephew. He was predeceased by a son Daniel McCaffery and a daughter Linda McCaffery. There will be no visitation. A private funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Bonaventure Church.
