Obituary of Robert Hurd

Robert E. Hurd Olean, NY Robert E. Hurd of 136 S. 12th St. passed away peacefully Monday (August 25, 2014) at home in the loving comfort of his family. Born May 7, 1938 in Weston Mills he was the son of Thomas and Mary Palmer Hurd. He had been married for 35 years to the former Helen Bish who survives. Mr. Hurd was a graduate of Olean High School and later served with the National Guard. His last employment was with Dresser Rand Co. in Olean for many years prior to his retirement in 2006. He enjoyed working with his hands and maintaining his home. He was a member of the Hinsdale Firemen's Auxiliary and he loved NASCAR. He always held a deep affection for his departed Shiatsu companions Princess and Tuffy. Surviving besides his wife are a daughter Jane Perkins of Shinglehouse, PA; a grandson Kayle (Connie) Perkins of Shinglehouse, PA; 3 stepchildren Margaret Macklin, Cynthia (Robert) Nupp and Alfred W. (Ann) Granger, Jr.; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Hurd and a sister Gloria Brooks. The family will receive friends on Friday (August 29, 2014) from noon to 1pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. A memorial service will follow at 1pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
