Obituary of Raymond Scott

Raymond E. Scott Olean, NY Raymond E. Scott, formerly of Olean, passed away Tuesday (August 12, 2014) at the Bradford Manor in Bradford, PA where he had been residing since 2012. Born September 18, 1918 in Portville, he was the son of Ray and Katherine Buckles Scott. On April 7, 1942 he married Edna Compfort who predeceased him January 30, 1991. On May 23, 1992, he married Betty Mosher who also predeceased him. Mr. Scott was a graduate of Portville High School. He enlisted in the US Army Air Force and served from 1942-1945. He was a salesman and picture-framer extraordinaire for many years and was the first Code Enforcement Officer for the city of Olean. He was active in the Olean Knights of Columbus Council #338, which honored him as Knight of the Year and where he enjoyed working bingo on Fridays and Sundays. He delivered Meals on Wheels, helped at ECHO in Portville and loved playing euchre, fishing and watching car races. Surviving are two children Randy (Kathy) Scott and Kathy (Jim) Bogdan, both of Derrick City, PA; eight grandchildren Kristen, Ryan, Amanda, Kenneth, Rebecca, Ruth, Rachel and Rose; six grandchildren Madelyn, Caden, Brett, Keifer, Jayme and Philip; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wives he was predeceased by three brothers Jesse Scott, Bill Scott and Dick Scott and one sister Thelma Scott Owens. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (August 16, 2014) from 9:30-11am at which time funeral services will begin. Deacon Richard Matthews will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Heart Association PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220.
