Obituary of Theresa Slevinski

Allegany- Theresa Slevinski of 3167 Maple Ave Ext. passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Tuesday (April 15, 2014).
Born November 30, 1922 in Salamanca, she was the daughter of Harry and Julia Pesto Nickola. On September 20, 1944 in Salamanca, she married Zygmond Slevinski, who predeceased her on January 21, 2013.
Mrs. Slevinski was employed for thirty years at Acme Electric in Allegany. After her retirement, she worked in the cafeteria at Allegany Elementary School.
She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, pinocle, and other card games with her family along with bowling in her earlier years. Her family remembered her as a great cook and baker and always looked forward with great anticipation to her holiday Polish dishes. Theresa especially enjoyed the years she spent caring for her three grandchildren during their preschool years. In that role, she acted as a sitter, pool monitor and short order cook. She always told her grand kids to "be happy".
Surviving are three children Thomas (Mary Lynn) Slevinski of Davenport, Florida, Stanislaus (Sara) Slevinski of South Bend Indiana, Susan (Mark) Bowen of Holly Hills, Florida; three grandchildren Lindsay, Zygmond and Richard; one great-granddaughter Cameryn Noel Slevinski; one sister Stephanie Mikolajczyk of Myrtle Beach, SC.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was predeceased by one daughter Marie Slevinski Carver; four brothers and five sisters.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean on Thursday (April 24, 2014)from 4-7pm. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday (April 25, 2014) at 9:30am at St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany.
