Obituary of Betty Weil

Betty J. Weil Allegany, NY Betty J. Weil of 2415 Five Mile Rd. passed away Friday (March 21, 2014) at the Olean General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born March 14, 1938 in Olean she was the daughter of the late Jacob J. and Jane E. Sweitzer Karl. On February 11, 1961 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany she married Albert E. Weil who survives. Mrs. Weil was a 1955 graduate of Allegany High School and had been employed as an operator and supervisor for the former New York Telephone Co. in Olean for 21 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and was involved with volunteer activities at the ReHabilitation Center for 28 years. She helped with the Special Olympics for 22 years and also served on the scholarship committee of the ReHabilitation Center. She was also a former Girl Scout leader in Allegany. Surviving besides her husband are 1 daughter Debra L. Weil of Olean; 1 son Craig A. (Helen) Weil of New Hartford; 2 granddaughters Katrina Weil and Megan Weil; 1 brother William J. (Betsy) Karl of Allegany; 2 sisters Candace A. (Robert) Stoll of Camp Hill, PA and Tracy J. (Brian) Lebrenz of Allegany and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (March 25, 2014) beginning with a prayer service at 9:00am in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Bonaventure Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jacob J. Karl Scholarship Fund or to the Allegany Fire Department.
