Obituary of Daniel Hughes

Daniel E. Hughes Limestone, NY Daniel E. Hughes, 78, of 1076 Route 219 passed away at home Sunday (February 23, 2014). Born March 14, 1935 in Olean he was the son of Daniel S. and Christine Coon Hughes. He was married to Lorna Crooks and they had been together almost 50 years. Mr. Hughes attended school in Friendship and had been a proud member of Labor Local 621 for 50 years, having worked for many local contractors until his retirement in 1997. Over the years he enjoyed his Harley Davidson motorcycles and was always an avid hunter and fisherman. Surviving besides his wife are a son Darren Hughes of Limestone and by a former marriage is survived by 5 children including Dawn (Frank) White of Scio as well as Linda, Debbie, George and Bobby. He also had several grandchildren and great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law Fred (Doraleen) Crooks of Machias; a sister-in-law Myra Crooks of Limestone and a very special good friend Ross Gleason of Portville. He was predeceased by his parents; 2 sons Danny and Robin; 1 brother Steve Hughes and 3 sisters Nancy Wardian, Gloria Stattler and Charlotte Turton. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 3-5 & 7-9pm and on Thursday (February 27, 2014) from 10am until 11:00am at which time services will be held. Rev.
