Obituary of Laurence Stady

Laurence C. Stady, Sr. of 2262 Valley View Drive passed away Thursday (February 13, 2014) at his residence, with his loving family by his side.
Born June 14, 1936 in Olean he was the son of Carl and Laura Lang Stady. On September 22, 1956 in Allegany he married Margaret Moore who survives.
Mr. Stady was a 1953 graduate of Allegany Central School and later graduated from Alfred State Tech in 1956 with a degree in Agricultural Business.
He had worked for 44 years at Clark Bros. Co., later Dresser Rand in Olean, first as a machinist where he retired as a second shift supervisor in 2000. He had been a self employed farmer his whole life, first with his father whom he purchased the farm from in 1957. He continued to operate it to the present day under the name C.F. and L.C. Stady Farms in Allegany.
He enjoyed attending auctions and he served as a delegate for the Eastern Milk Producers Association and also for Agway, Inc.
Surviving besides his wife are 5 children Laurence "Rick" (Mary) Stady, Jr. of Allegany, Lori (Gary) Wood of Hinsdale, Leisa (Joseph) O'Brion of Weare, NH and Lanie (Cheri) Stady and Ladd (Donna) Stady, both of Allegany; 9 grandchildren Richard Stady, James Stady, Christopher Wood, Eric Wood, Amber O'Brion, Samantha Stady, Andrew Stady, Amanda Stady and Tyler Stady; 1 great grandchild Vida Stady; 3 sisters and 1 brother Kathleen (Harold) Stewart of Geneseo, Thomas (Norma) Stady of El Paso, TX, Maggie Stady of Allegany and Patricia (Ted) Andrewjewski of Eastlake, OH; 1 aunt Ruth Rich of Santa Barbara, CA and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Carl and Laura Stady; 1 son Terry Lee Stady in 1960; 1 daughter Lynn Elizabeth Stady in 1988 and 1 sister Karen Hudson.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State St. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (February 17, 2014) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. John Woodring, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Allegany, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
