Great Valley- William Michael "Mike" Havers of 4905 Rte 219 Great Valley and a longtime Allegany resident, passed away Friday (January 10, 201) at the Olean General Hospital, after a long illness. Born May 9, 1944 in Batesburg, South Carolina, he was the son of William and Louise Scott Havers. He married Rosemary Augustine, who predeceased him June 24, 2009. Mr. Havers was veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Havers General Contracting and was always willing to lend a helping hand around the Olean and Allegany communities. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing,trapping and was a member of the National Rifle Association. Surviving is one son Michael Havers of Great Valley; two daughters Amy Baransky of Auburndale, FL, Beth Havers of Great Valley; four grandchildren Elizabeth Havers, Maria Baransky, Joseph Baransky and Kaylee Havers; one great-granddaughter Sofie Fuller; two sisters Martha Rogers, Diane Rossell; one brother Doug Havers; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents; one brother Randy Havers; one sister Maggie Ruby;a niece Abigail Ruby; and a son in law Joseph Baransky. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 NYS Rte 417W, on Thursday from 6-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday (January 17, 2014) beginning with a 9am prayer service at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am at St. Bonaventure Church with Rev. James Vacco, OFM officiating. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials if desired may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute PO Box 631 Buffalo, NY 14240-0631.
