To the whole Riley Family; I am deeply saddened by your loss. It has been many years since I saw Ross but his memory stuck with me through all these years. He, Heather, and I all went to High School together, and lost touch after our respective graduations. Ross, I and other friends had quite a few laughs in our day, and made some great memories. I know you are proud of what he did for our country, and again for the people of NY. To be taken at such a young age is a tragedy, but that means God just needed him sooner than most. A few months back, I briefly was in contact with Heather, and she told me about Ross and his accomplishments. I had so hoped to reconnect with both of them to reminice about what had happened with each of us since school, and tell of our experiences. Having lost people close to me myself, please find comfort in knowing that they are always alive and well in your hearts and minds. He is with you now each day, each moment doing what he does best- protecting those he cared about, but now from Heaven. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to do so. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Sincerely; Allyn T. Noga

Heidi - I am so very sorry for the loss of Ross. He was a great man. His infectious smile and great spirit will be greatly missed...especially by a certain QM. He loved you and the girls with all his being. I would ask about all of you and he would just smile all over. I am sorry that I cannot be there as I am on vacation but please know you are and will be in my prayers. Jean

Riley family, I was deeply saddened to learn that Ross had passed. Ross and I were high school friends that spent a lot of time together. We grew up 2 streets apart in Auburn and Ross drove me to school almost every day for a couple years on his Spree moped while I got a free workout holding our instruments in the back. We were a site to see, and it was certainly no small thing that Ross trusted me to hold his trumpet. And of course, there were the countless hours we spent in the many bands we played in together both at Auburn High School and around the central NY area. Ross was someone I always hoped to catch up with again one day. I thought it would somehow be facilitated by my brother, also a trumpet player in the Auburn band and also a long-time and currently serving member of the NYS police (Troop C). I imagined the stories we’d tell and the laughs we’d have again. Regretfully, that day must now be postponed. However, I am comforted knowing that Ross led a wonderful life of service to others as both a Marine and as a Trooper. John 15:13 says that greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. Ross accepted that commitment many years ago and he passed selflessly doing that very thing. I am proud to have counted him as a friend. Ross has a great legacy in the family he leaves behind. I wish them peace in this difficult time and in the days and years ahead. God Bless. I am deeply saddened by this loss. There are few who are as genuine and kind as Ross was. He served under my father as a Marine security guard at the embassy in Uruguay. He was a groomsman at my wedding. Through technology we have managed to stay in touch. I was never fortunate enough to meet his family, but I know they were is everything. My prayers to his family for strength and courage to get through this difficult time.
