Obituary of Bernice Carapellatti

Bernice M. Carapellatti Hinsdale, NY Bernice M. Carapellatti, a former longtime resident of Hinsdale, passed away Monday (October 7, 2013) at the Cuba Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility. Born March 24, 1926 in Olean she was the daughter of Paul and Edith Williams Hooper. On August 28, 1946 at St. John's Church in Olean she married Roland A. Carapellatti who predeceased her November 10, 1993. Mrs. Carapellatti resided in Hinsdale most of her life and graduated from Hinsdale Central School. She had worked at the former Acme Bakery in Hinsdale and later baked cakes for all occasions from her home. She was a member of the former St. Helen's Catholic Church in Hinsdale, enjoyed oil painting as a hobby and gardening. Surviving are four children Ronald Carapellatti of Olean, Kim (Sara) Carapellatti of Cuba, Scott Carapellatti of Hinsdale and Lynn Carapellatti Ellis of Allegany; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two brothers Gordon "Skip" (June) Hooper of Olean and Ed (Carol) Hooper of Hinsdale; one sister Vera Cooney of Montana and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Janet Carapellatti Prosser, a son Lawrence Carapellatti; a sister Ellen Hall and a brother Robert C. Hooper. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (October 10, 2013) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30 in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. John's Church. Rev. Edward Sheedy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cuba Memorial Hospital, Inc. 140 W. Main St. Cuba, NY 14727 or to St. John's Church 921 N. Union St. Olean, NY 14760. Online condolences may be expressed at oleanfuneralhome.com.
