Phylis Dorothy Simpson Olean, NY Phylis Dorothy Simpson of 2130 Hillcrest Ave. passed away Monday (September 23, 2013) at The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean. Born August 21, 1931 in Buffalo she was the daughter of John and Winifred Mescall Kaufmann. She was married to John E. Simpson who died in 1976. Mrs. Simpson was a graduate of East Aurora High School. She had been employed for thirty years for the former NY Telephone Co., now AT&T, first in Buffalo and then in Olean where she retired as chief operator and manager. She is survived by her sister Ann Marie (Leonard) Connelly of Arcade; two brothers Vincent Kaufmann of Springbrook and Lawrence Kaufmann of East Aurora; twenty one nieces and nephews and special godsons Martin Nason, William Connelly and James Hardenbergh. She was predeceased by two sisters Marjorie Boyle and Noreen Nason; three brothers Martin Kaufmann, William Kaufmann and Brother Kaufmann; a niece Ann Sees and a nephew Laurence Kaufmann. At Mrs. Simpson's request, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial mass Saturday (September 28, 2013) at 11:00am in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Mary of the Angels Church.
