Gregory D. Spring
Allegany, NY Gregory D. Spring, 17, of 44 N. 5th St. was called Home unexpectedly Monday (June 17, 2013).
Born December 30, 1995 in Olean, NY he was the son of Eugene and Keri Nutt Spring.
Gregory was completing his sophomore year at Allegany-Limestone High School and enjoyed participating in sports through the years. He played hockey and was the goalie for the Olean Arrows' successful season in 2006 in which he and his team were the NYSAHA Tier III champions. He most enjoyed playing soccer and for the past several years played for the Enchanted Mountain Soccer Club. In addition to sports and school he worked part time at the Service Stores Park and Shop in Allegany. He also was a very artistic young man who loved to do woodcarving and who loved the outdoors and hunting in particular.
Surviving besides his parents of Allegany are one sister Julianne Spring at home; maternal grandparents Ronald and Sharri Nutt of Olean; paternal grandfather Jerry Spring of Allegany; many loving aunts and uncles June (Rick) Giles, Bonnie (Gary) Knowlton, Andy (Connie) Spring, Kevin (Sally) Nutt, Keith (Beth) Nutt and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Joeann Spring and his great grandmother Eleanor L. Nutt who had been a dear part of his life.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Friday (June 21, 2013) at 11:00am in Christ United Methodist Church. Co-pastors William and Kristin Allen will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
