Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather
Allegany, NY Donald C. Kohl of 2936 Five Mile Rd, Lot 24, passed away Thursday (May 16th, 2013) at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 17, 1931 in Olean, NY he was the son of the late Albert and Grace Campbell Kohl. On February 10th, 1955 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Olean he married Clarice Spencer, who passed away July 4, 2010.
Mr. Kohl was a graduate of Olean High School. From 1952 to 1954 he served in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked at A. Weston Lumber for seven years, then worked for Erie Builders Supply Co. in Olean for over twenty five years until he had to take an early retirement due to his health. He was a member of the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post #892. He enjoyed watching the Buffalo Bills and NASCAR racing on television, but most of all he enjoyed his family.
He is survived by a son, Douglas (Genevieve) Kohl of Hinsdale, five daughters, Deborah (Steve) Cipot, Denise (Tom) Abdo, DeEtte (Gary) Wilson, all of Olean, Deanna Dutton and Darla Warfield, both of Allegany; . 13 grandchildren, Christopher Kohl, Kevin (Dawn) Kohl, Torrie (Matt) Gross, Ryann (Shannon) Donahoe, Shayla (Jake) Haught, Kali Abdo, Bryan (Kate) Wilson and Matthew Wilson, Jessica (Aaron) Peters, Earl Dutton, Nicholas (Jamie) Howard, Zachary Howard, and Ashley Warfield. 10 great-grandchildren, Lukas and Logan Gross, Cowan and Delaney Donahoe, Adilynn Haught, Ali, Lillian and Wyatt Kohl , Alayna Kohl and Gaven Peters;
a brother Leonard (Joan) Kohl of Olean and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a sister Grace Kohl.
At Mr. Kohl's request there will be no public visitation. Private funeral services will be held at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean with the Allegany American Legion Ritual Team providing full military services. Burial will be in Mt. View Cemetery.
