Maxine E. Porcello
Cuba, NY Maxine E. Porcello, a longtime resident of Olean, passed away Sunday (March 30, 2013) at the Cuba Memorial Hospital Skilled Nursing Facility where she had spent the last several years of her life.
Born April 9, 1919 in Bradford, PA she was the daughter of William and Lillian Clugston Burger. On February 8, 1941 at the United Brethren Church in Rixford, PA she married Robert P. Porcello who predeceased her September 2, 2004.
Mrs. Porcello was a graduate of Otto Eldred High School. She had worked in various Olean retail stores including Vivian's Dress Shop, Bradner's Department Store and Hannifan's Shoe Store. She enjoyed working with the public and shared many interesting moments about her experiences with the good people of the Olean area. She was an avid walker. You would often see her heading to the Olean Center Mall where she liked to shop. She also was an excellent housekeeper and had many delicious recipes she would prepare for her family. She'll be remembered in many wonderful ways, including being a loving mother and extremely dedicated and caring grandmother.
She was a fifty plus year member of the First Baptist Church of Olean where she taught Sunday school for more that a decade and truly enjoyed the children.
Surviving are two sons Robert (Bonnie) Porcello and Jack (Kathy) Porcello, both of Loudon TN; four grandchildren Jill (Bradley) Butchello of Williamsburg, VA, Pamela (Bradley) Heimsness of Lebanon, TN, Nicholas (Brandi) Porcello of Allegany and Andrew Porcello of Charlotte, NC; three great grandchildren Ashley, Robert and Anthony Butchello;
A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the First Baptist Church in Olean on Friday (June 14, 2013) at a time to be announced. Memorials may be made to the Cuba Memorial Hospital at 140 W. Main St., Cuba, NY 14727. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
