Obituary of Miles Higley

Miles J. "Mike" Higley Olean, NY Miles J. "Mike" Higley of 323 N. 12th St. passed away Friday (January 4, 2013) at the Olean General Hospital. Born June 18, 1950 in Port Allegany, PA he was the son of Robert and Lillian Roller Higley. On January 17, 1970 he married Margaret Simmons who survives. Mr. Higley worked for Dresser Rand Co. as a crane operator for thirty one years, retiring in 2005 and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union Local #4601. He was enthusiastic in his hobby of metal detecting and woodworking. He especially liked to be around his children and grandchildren and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Surviving besides his wife are three children Rebecca (John Louser) Gilbert of Olean, Michael (Carrie) Higley of Hinsdale and Grace Higley of Olean; six grandchildren Cory, Rick, Tayler and Karissa Gilbert and Steven and Ryan Higley; three brothers Robert Higley of Bradford, PA and Joseph Higley and Dean (Elizabeth) Higley, both of Olean; two sisters Debra (Bill) Wineberg of Olean and Genevieve (Douglas) Kohl of Hinsdale and several nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation on Monday (January 7, 2013) from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean.
