Obituary of Eleanor Songer

Eleanor M. Songer Bradford, PA Eleanor M. Songer, a ten year resident of the Bradford Ecumenical Home, passed away Sunday (December 30, 2012). Born April 8, 1916 in Emporium, PA she was the daughter of Francis and Alice Shoup Brissee, Sr. In February of 1932 she married Walter E. Songer who predeceased her December 11, 1983. Mrs. Songer attended St. Mary of the Angels Parochial School and was a graduate of Olean High School. She resided in Bradford, PA for most of her married life where she had been employed by the Ray and Derick Drug Store for ten years. She and her husband moved to Limestone in 1971. She attended St. Francis Church in Bradford and later attended St. Patrick's Church in Limestone. She enjoyed being a homemaker, being with her family and baking for her grandchildren. Surviving are one daughter Karen (Ron) Bergman of Chandler, AZ; four sons William (Carol) Songer of Limestone, Joseph Songer of Pismo Beach, CA, Terry Songer of Bradford, PA and Richard (Carol) Songer of Little Valley; sixteen grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one brother Francis Brissee of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters Rita Hensley of Hurricane, UT, Patricia Todd of Lansdale, PA and Dora Pawlakowski of Lorraine, OH and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a daughter Jeanine Todd on February 6, 2012 and four sisters Margie Fritz, Ann, Jean Peterson and Dorothy Brissee. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday (January 4, 2013) at 9:30 in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. James Vacco, OFM, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
