Shirley Foote Gowanda, NY Shirley Foote, a former longtime resident of Olean passed away Thursday (October 11, 2012) at the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. Born September 26, 1933 in Niagara Falls she was the daughter of Joseph J. and Eunice Kohler. On November 20, 1962 in Portville she married Ambrose Foote who predeceased her February 24, 1990. Mrs. Foote lived in Hinsdale prior to moving to Sullivan Street in Olean in 1962. She had been a restaurant employee in the area for many years. She was an avid animal lover, enjoyed playing bingo and doing needlework and crossword puzzles. She was also devoted to her faith and read her bible daily. Surviving are one son Gary Kohler of Olean; one stepdaughter Sharon Miller of Salamanca; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by three sisters Mary Smith, Renne Yates and Joan Hebdon. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Tuesday (October 16, 2012) from noon until time of services at 1:00pm. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean. Memorials may be made to the Gowanda Rehabilitation and Nursing Home 100 Miller St. Gowanda, NY 14070 or to the Cattaraugus County SPCA 2944 Olean Hinsdale Rd. Olean, NY 14760.
