Clarence F. Mohr
Allegany, NY Clarence F. Mohr of 3974 Route 417 Lot 122 passed away Sunday (August 5, 2012) at The Absolut of Allegany.
Born October 25, 1915 in Allegany he was the son of Frank and Margaret Zaph Mohr. On September 1, 1945 in Buffalo he married Dorothy M. LaVorgna who survives.
Mr. Mohr was a graduate of Allegany High School and of the International Academy of Beauty Culture. He was a lifelong resident of the area and first worked on the family farm and later for Acme Electric in Allegany for five years. His career was as a self employed hairdresser from 1950 until his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and was the past president of the Olean chapter of the National Hairdresser and Cosmetologists Association. He also participated in the Sixty Plus in Allegany and, along with his wife, was honored by the club for his years of volunteering for the community. He enjoyed playing euchre, drawing and painting and also baking over the years.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons Robert (Barbara) Mohr of Cuba, Ronald Mohr of Mexico and Barry Mohr of Warren, PA; one daughter Joan (Peter) Krist of Greece; eight grandchildren Chris Mohr, Jeff Mohr, Greg (Rachel) Mohr, Amy Mohr, Jenifer Krist, Stephanie Krist, Nicholas Mohr and Jessica Mohr; 4 great grandchildren Elayna, Ashton, Braeden and Brooklyn and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers Vince Mohr, Arthur Mohr, Edwin Mohr and Lawrence Mohr and one sister Mildred Abbott.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State St. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9. Funeral services will be held Thursday (August 9, 2012) beginning with a prayer service at the funeral home at 9:30am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Rev. Francis DiSpigno, OFM will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to St. Bonaventure Church.
