Limestone- Robert C. Collett, formerly of Great Valley, passed away Friday (July 27, 2012). He was born on September 6, 1942 in Canton, NY and was the eldest son of the late Carl John and Violet Agnes Tousley Collett. On December 18, 1965 he married Mary Eleanor Whitmer at the Free Methodist Church by Rev. Thurber R. Thayer, in Salamanca. Mr. Collett graduated from Knox Memorial Central School in Russell, NY. He was one of fourteen in the graduating class, which was the smallest class ever in that school. Mr. Collett was a laborer and truck driver. His passion was working with firewood. Besides his wife, he is survived by two brothers Thomas E. (Vickie) Collett and Timothy E. (Loretta) Collett both of Degrasse, NY; two nieces Stormy Collett and Darcy Collett; two nephews Brian and Joseph Collett; three great-nieces Carissa Rose Collett, Kadence Lily Collett and Brayley Collett; and one great nephew Jordan Collett. He was predeceased by one son John Robert on December 5, 1969 and a brother Charles. At the request of Mr. Collett there will be no visitation or services at this time. Burial will take place at a later date at Green Cemetery in Great Valley. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road, Olean.
