Bernard G. Nevison
N. Tonawanda, NY Bernard G. Nevison of 6940 Village Dr. Apt B died Friday (March 2, 2012) in the Buffalo Veteran's Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Born August 22, 1927 in Buffalo he was the son of Charles and Bernice Hebner Nevison. On November 20, 1945 in Ripley, NY he married Doris Grohs who survives.
Mr. Nevison was a veteran of WWII having served with the US Army from 1945 to 1946. He was raised in Niagara Falls and lived there and in the Buffalo area until moving to Dansville in 1956. After three years he moved to the Hinsdale and Ischua areas where he resided from 1959 to 2002. He had been a resident of the Buffalo area for the past ten years.
He worked in the agricultural industry, particularly as a poultry farmer from the time he was a young man until 1989. He then worked as a maintenance person until he moved to Buffalo in 2002. He was a former member of the Hinsdale American Legion and the VFW. He also was an avid fisherman and enjoyed playing cards and billiards.
Surviving besides his wife are one son William Nevison of Holly, MI; five grandchildren Sean Nordlund, Kristen Nordlund, Heidi Nevison, Nancy Nevison and Keith Nevison; two brothers Roger Nevison whose last known residence was Niagara Falls and Charles "Bill" Nevison of Cleveland, OH and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by an infant son Robert Nevison, a daughter Lori Nordlund in 2007 and five brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Saturday (March 10, 2012) from 10:30am until 1:00pm. Funeral services will follow at 1:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to a Veteran's organization of the donor's choice.
