Obituary of Richard Zink

Richard J. Zink Allegany, NY Richard J. Zink of 4406 Birch Run Rd. died Monday (September 26, 2011) in the Olean General Hospital after a short illness. Born May 23, 1920 in Gasport, NY he was the son of George and Mary Montgomery Zink. On March 14, 1959 at the Grace Methodist Church in Warren, PA he married Frances M. Johnson who survives. Mr. Zink was a resident of Birch Run Rd. in Allegany most of his life and had operated a dairy farm for many years. He later worked for Buffalo Slag Co. (now Buffalo Crushed Stone) in both Franklinville and then Allegany. He then operated his own gravel pit from his property in Allegany. Since 1995 he owned and operated J & R Self Storage. Surviving besides his wife are four sons George (Mary) Zink and Daniel (Karen) Zink, both of Freedom and Thomas (Gail Church) Zink and Jeff Zink, both of Allegany; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Charles Zink. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday (September 30, 2011) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Dr. Anthony L. Evans will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
