Obituary of Lucille Beardsley

Lucille D. Beardsley Getzville, NY Lucille D. Beardsley of 2700 N. Forest Rd., formerly of 106 S. 25th St., Olean died Saturday (June 4, 2011) in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital in Williamsville after a short illness. Born January 12, 1928 in Detroit, MI she was the daughter of George and Stella Staczyk Manko. On August 12, 1960 in Olean she married Frank W. Beardsley who predeceased her July 28, 1985. Mrs. Beardsley enrolled in D'Youville College in Buffalo at the age of 40 where she received a nursing degree. A longtime resident of Olean, she worked for Cattaraugus County primarily as a traveling registered nurse. She moved to Waldorf, MD and worked there as a nurse for many years, retiring at the age of 72. She moved to the Buffalo area in recent years. She was a former member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and was supportive of the mission work of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany as well as the Franciscan Order. Surviving are four sons George LaFever of Monterey, CA, Dr. Michael (Joan) LaFever of Amherst, Raymond E. (Barbara) LaFever of Waterford, CT and John Beardsley of Waldorf, MD; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother Louis Manko of West Seneca and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by two brothers George Manko and David Manko. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean Tuesday (June 7, 2011) from 11am until 12:30pm at which time a prayer service will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00pm in St. Mary of the Angels Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Blind and Visually Handicapped Association 295 Main St. Room 590 Buffalo, NY 14203.
