Obituary of Salvatore L. Cucchiaro

Salvatore Louis Cucchiaro "Lifelong Olean resident" Olean, NY-- Salvatore Louis Cucchiaro of 1311 Walnut St. died Saturday (March 22, 2003) in the Olean General Hospital after a long illness. Born October 24, 1922 in Olean he was the son of Salvatore and Josephine Minneci Cucchiaro. On June 25, 1977 in Olean he married Crystal F. Rogers Ross who survives. Mr. Cucchiaro was a lifelong resident of Olean, graduated from Olean High School and he served with the US Army during WWII. He worked many years both for the Erie Railroad and also for Acme Electric in Allegany, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church and also the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and traveling. Surviving besides his wife are 6 children Karen Anastasia of Olean, Sally (Brad) Green of Cuba, Mary (David) Carleton of Cuba, Andrea (Wayne Jr.) Sherlock of Olean, Joseph Cucchiaro of Olean and Michael (Vivian) Cucchiaro of Olean; 3 step-children Vickie (Tony) Tyler of Cuba, Timothy (Joan) Ross of Olean and John (Lori) Ross of Bradford, Pa.; 24 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; 1 brother Robert (Kathleen) Cucchiaro of Olean; 4 sisters Josephine (Seth) Bell of Punta Gorda, FL, Marie (Don) Walsh of Lincoln, CA, Vita (John) Miller of Salamanca and Bette Cucchiaro of Olean and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 2 brothers Andrew Cucchiaro and Joseph Cucchiaro. Friends will be received on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9pm in the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Funeral services will be held Tuesday (March 25, 2003) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Lung Association of WNY, Inc. 210 John Glenn Dr. #3 Buffalo, NY 14226.
