William F. Trowbridge
Allegany, NY William F. Trowbridge of 1377 Chipmonk Rd. in Allegany, passed away Wednesday (March 23, 2011) unexpectedly at his home.
Born March 28, 1919 in Scio, NY he was the son of Burrell and Rena Foster Trowbridge. He was married to Laura Belle Miles from 1941 to 1990. On February 16, 1991 he married Jean Conrad (Stevenson) who predeceased him on September 6, 2010.
Mr. Trowbridge was a veteran of the US Army having served during WWII from 1941 to 1945. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star which he was awarded for his service in the Battle of the Bulge. He had been a resident of Chipmonk since 1951 and had worked in the oil fields all of his life, retiring from Pennzoil in 1982.
He enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are 3 daughters Carol Cooney of Allegany, Kay Trowbridge of Hinsdale and Billie Jean (William) Nichols of Allegany; 3 grandchildren Shaun Cooney of Florida, Todd Cooney of Clarence, NY, Amanda (Chris) Carleton; 8 great grandchildren Bridget, Shayna, Kaitlyn, Amaya, Owen, Domonic, Shay, and Nathanial; 2 sisters Hilda Roderick of Olean and Irene (Judson) Heck of Newfane and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by 5 brothers Howard, Foster, Adrian, Herbert and Frederick and 4 sisters Gretta Trowbridge, Catherine Glover, Gertrude Barnes and infant Louise Trowbridge.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road today from 7-9pm. A memorial graveside service with full military honors will be held on Saturday (March 26, 2011) at 11am at the Allegany Cemetery.
Flowers are gratefully declined and memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
