Richard E. Deibler
Olean, NY Richard E. Deibler of 438 N. 10th St. died Thursday (January 13, 2011) in Cuba Memorial Hospital.
Born February 26, 1923 in Olean, NY he was the son of Gordon and Eda Hartwig Deibler. On November 9, 1963 at the former First Methodist Church in Olean he married Mary I. Giardini who survives.
Mr. Deibler was a 1941 graduate of Olean High School. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army and later he served for seven years for the National Guard in Olean.
He first worked for the Quirinn Coal Co. in Olean and later made ice deliveries in the city of Olean. He then worked for the Daystrom Furniture Co. until its relocation in 1962. He worked for twenty years for General Motors in Rochester, NY until his retirement in 1983.
Mr. Deibler was a life member of the Olean Eagles Aerie #616 and was a life member of the Olean American Legion. He also was a former member of the Olean VFW and the St. Stephen's Club. In past years he enjoyed hunting and fishing and along with his wife he enjoyed a great deal of traveling.
Surviving besides his wife are five children Rita Wilber, Jim (Kim) Wilber, Sabrina Wilber and Peggy Wilber, all of Olean and John (Darlene) Wilber of Little Genesee, NY; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one brother Clayton Deibler of San Francisco, CA and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers Lionel "Clare" Deibler, Lynn Deibler and Bob Deibler.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (January 17, 2011) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Bonaventure Church. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery with full military honors being accorded by the Allegany American Legion Ritual Team. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
