"Always and Forever"
Allegany-- JoAnn Menter of 4115 S. Nine Mile Road lot 137, passed away Wednesday (December 1, 2010) at the Olean General Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born April 3, 1949 in Olean, she was the daughter of Frank C. and Gladys Higby Sanderson. On November 2, 1996 at Christ United Methodist Church in Olean, she married Walter "Joe" Menter, who survives.
Mrs. Menter was a graduate of Allegany Central School. She was currently employed as a Senior Civil Clerk at the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Department for the past 29 years.
She was a notary public, a past member of the Moose Lodge of Bradford, PA and loved all animals, especially her dog.
Surviving besides her husband is her son Todd (Elizabeth) Finch of Greeley Colorado, a daughter Stacy (Dan) Hubbard of New Albion, a step-daughter Tina (John) Kozlowski of Westons Mills; 2 brothers Fred (Debbie) Sanderson of Rixsford, PA., Jeff Sanderson of Bradford, PA; 1 sister Sandra (Edgar) Goodliff of Windgate, NC; 5 grandchildren; many cousins including her two special cousins Judy Smith and Mary Sue Crowley; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by 2 brothers Jay and John Sanderson.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road Olean on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday (December 4, 2010) at 11am at the funeral home. Rev. Anthony Evans will officiate. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA 2944 Olean-Hinsdale Road Olean, NY 14760.
