"Life-long Olean Resident"
Olean- William V. Capozzi, of 132 North Union Street, passed away Monday (November 15, 2010) at the Cuba Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Born February 14, 1921 in Olean, he was the son of Virgil and Marjorie Bisbee Capozzi. In 1946, he married Ruth Stocks, who predeceased him in 2004.
Mr. Capozzi attended Olean High Schools. He was enlisted in the United States Army from 1942-1946, receiving the World War II Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the American Theater Ribbon. He later was employed for the former Seneca Crafts in Salamanca.
He was a past member of the Olean American Legion and a past member of the Olean Knights of Columbus. He was known in the area for ball room dancing and his enjoyment of theater and playing numerous musical instruments.
Surviving is a daughter Sharon (Kenneth) Boser of Allegany; 2 grandsons; and several cousins.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by a brother Jake Capozzi.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road on Wednesday from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday (November 18, 2010) at the Five Mile Baptist Church, Allegany. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
Memorials if desired may be made to HomeCare & Hospice 1225 W. State Road, Olean NY, The Five Mile Baptist Church or to the Olean Community Theater 212 North 13th Street, Olean.
