Obituary of Tillie Stefanick

Tillie V. Stefanick Olean, NY Tillie V. "Tekla" Stefanick, formerly of New Jersey, passed away Sunday (September 19, 2010) in The Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean where she had resided since 2004. Born December 19, 1912 in Newark, NJ she was the daughter of Andrew and Victoria Purcnal Rzesutek. On September 2, 1939 in St. Casmir Church in Newark she married George E. Stefanick who predeceased her in 1990. Mrs. Stefanick was educated in schools in New Jersey and had resided there most of her life, spending her more recent years living in Olean since 1996. During WWII she was employed as an airplane assembler for a Defense Plant in Linden, New Jersey. Later she worked at various electronics plants in New Jersey. She was a member of St. John's RC Church in Olean and loved music, dancing and cooking. She took pride in being a wife and mother, loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and loved being called "Aunt Tillie" by her many nieces and nephews. They will all remember her for her great tasting potato salad and chicken soup. Surviving are 1 daughter Sandra (Dr. Thomas) Lutz of Olean; 6 grandchildren Amy (Andrew Ford) Lutz, Erin (Michael) Jackson, James (Lisa) Stefanick, Brice (Courtney) Stefanick, Reid Stefanick and Meg Stefanick; 6 great grandchildren; Hazel, Willow, Josephine, Elizabeth, Tekla Lucia and Anna-Kate Claire; 1 daughter-in-law Donna Stefanick of Greenville, SC and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by a son George A. Stefanick; 3 brothers John Rzesutek, Andrew Rzesutek and Joseph Rzesutek and 1 sister Helen Notte. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (September 24, 2010) at St. John's Church at 10:00am. Burial will be in St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia, NJ on Saturday (September 25, 2010) at 10:30am. Memorials may be made to Friends of the Pines 2245 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760 or to St. John's Church 921 N. Union St. Olean, NY 14760.
