Obituary of Wilburt Hoy

Scio-- Wilburt J. "Jim" Hoy of 4107 Irons Road Lot 6 ½, passed away Sunday (August 22, 2010) at the Jones Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family, after a long illness. Born March 31, 1945 in Buffalo, he was the son of Fred and Beatrice Barnes Hoy, as well Eloise Hoy, who raised him, after his mom died. On May 20, 1969 he married Shirley A. Knapp of Olean, who survives. Mr. Hoy was a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving from 1961-1965. He was employed for several years at Jaylor Trucking in Belfast, retiring in 2007. Mr. Hoy enjoyed fishing, hunting, horses, working outdoors and spending time with his family and close friends. Surviving besides his wife are his daughters Tiea Hoy of Allegany (from a previous marriage), Tracy (Rich Bowes) Goodwill of Wellsville, Rachel Crum of Olean, Catherine (Scott) Talbott of Olean; 11 grandchildren Duston Bowers, Jamie Nelson, Aaron Nelson, Heather Nelson, Jerry Crum, Daniel Crum Alyia, Cody and Sydney French, Johnothan and Amanda Talbott; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 brothers Delbert Hoy of PA, Daniel Hoy of North Carolina, John Hoy of North Carolina, Warren Hoy of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Russell Hoy. At Mr. Hoy's request, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home
