Loving Wife, Mother, Nana, Great-Grandmother
Allegany, NY-- Clarice D. Kohl of 2936 Five Mile Rd, Lot 24 Allegany, NY passed away Sunday (July 4, 2010) in her home surrounded by her family.
Born Feb. 1, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Georganna Holtz Spencer. On Feb. 10, 1955 she married Donald C. Kohl who survives.
In 1969 Mrs. Kohl started her own Beauty Shop in her home in Olean and continued for 18 years. Then she became part-time sales representative for Southern Tier Realty Co. for 10 years. She was a member of the Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post #892. She loved watching all kinds of sports, crocheting, doing crossword puzzles and testing her luck at the Casino, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and traveling to Florida.
Besides her husband of 55 years, she is survived by a son, Douglas (Genevieve) Kohl of Hinsdale; 5 daughters, Deborah (Steve) Cipot, Denise (Tom) Abdo, DeEtte (Gary) Wilson, all of Olean, and Deanna Dutton, and Darla Warfield, each of Allegany; 13 grandchildren, Christopher (Melissa Ryder) & Kevin (Dawn Knowlton) Kohl, Torrie (Matt) Gross, Ryann (Shannon) Donahoe, Shayla & Kali Abdo, Bryan & Matt Wilson, Jessica (Aaron) Peters & Earl J. Dutton, Nicholas & Zachary Howard, and Ashley Warfield; 5 great-grandchildren, Allie & Lillian Kohl, Lukas Gross, Cowan & Delaney Donahoe; a brother-in-law & sister-in-law Leonard & Joan Kohl; nephews Christopher (Rhonda) Spencer & Daniel Spencer of South Carolina and a special cousin Harold (Linda) Spencer, Jr.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, George Spencer.
Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean Tuesday from 5-9pm. Funeral and committal services will be held Wednesday (July 7, 2010) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Rev. William Allen, co-pastor of Christ United Methodist Church in Olean, will officiate. Burial will be in the veterans section of Mt. View Cemetery, Olean.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Allegany Fire Department or to Homecare and Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760.
