Obituary of Betty Nodler

Betty Jane Nodler-- "Sweetheart" Olean, NY-- Betty Jane Nodler of 350 Front St. died peacefully Tuesday (June 28, 2010) in The Absolut of Allegany. Born February 13, 1922, in Olean, she was the daughter of Howard and Edith Kelly Miller. On June 27, 1942, in Olean, she married Paul A. Nodler, who predeceased her August 22, 1990. Mr. and Mrs. Nodler had lived in Niagara Falls for three years and then moved to New York City for nine years, where she was employed for Stern's Department Store. They moved back to Olean and for 25 years they owned and operated the former Nodler Studio. She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Olean and volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Nodler enjoyed reading and was an animal lover, leaving behind her cat "Janey." Surviving are a daughter Holly Nodler of Olean; a son Mark (Becky) Nodler of Olean; 3 grandchildren Kristen, Adam, Sarah Nodler, all of Olean; 1 sister Marilyn (Bob) Ross of Olean; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Road on Friday (July 2, 2010) from 4-6pm, at which time funeral services will begin. Rev. Eileen Borduin Vanderzwan, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Olean will officiate. Burial will be in Hinsdale Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cattaraugus County SPCA 2944 Olean-Hinsdale Road,Olean, Department of Aging Meals on Wheels, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
