Audrey J. Hewitt "Beloved Great Great Grandmother; Avid Bingo Player Portville, NY-- Audrey J. Hewitt, 81, of 212 Prosser Rd. passed away Monday (March 15, 2010) in Jones Memorial Hospital. Born August 17, 1928 in Olean, NY she was the daughter of Herman and Ethel McIntosh Burlingame. On July 10, 1950 at the First Baptist Church in Olean, NY she married Eldon P. Hewitt who predeceased her November 20, 1995. Mrs. Hewitt had been employed in the 1950's as a crossing guard by the Olean Police Department. She also worked at Olean American Tile Co. and the former Sugar Bowl Restaurant in Bolivar. She was a loving housewife who was an avid bingo player and enjoyed crocheting and doing crossword puzzles. Surviving are 1 son Cliff (Laurie) Hewitt of Portville; 4 daughters Gayla (Orlando) Arlia of Cleveland, OH, Debra (Fred) Knight of Bolivar, Paula (Robert) Doxey of Portville and Marcia (Todd) Metz of Richburg; 27 grandchildren; 60 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren; 2 brothers George R. Burlingame of Ione, CA and Richard N. Burlingame of Bradford, PA; 4 sisters Patricia Golden of Bradford, PA, Joan Miller Hogsett of Florida, Rose Marie Burlingame of Smethport, PA and Cathy Hackett of Crescent City, FL and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 6 brothers Robert Burlingame, Louis Burlingame, William Burlingame, Clifford Burlingame, Donald Burlingame and Edwin Burlingame and 2 half sisters Florence Buzzard and Virginia Angerer. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday (March 20, 2010) at 11:00am in the funeral home. Pastor Joseph Smith of the Southside Union Chapel in Olean will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
