Obituary of Viola V. Rusk

Viola V. Rusk “ Woman of Prayer” Olean—Viola V. Rusk of Olean passed away Monday (February 25, 2008) at Como Park Hospice in Cheektowaga, after a short illness. Born November 5, 1929 in Olean, she was the daughter of Edward and Rose Woyner Stanton. Mrs. Rusk graduated from Olean High School and had resided in Olean for most of her life. She had been employed at her parents business, the Cornerplace Restaurant for 20 years. She was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church and the World Apostolate of Fatima. She held a special devotion to the Father Solanus Guild and she also was associated with Our Lady’s Rosary Makers where she crafted hundreds of rosaries over the years. She will be remembered as one who was a woman of prayer, as one who was devoted to her family, and who held a lifelong interest in the welfare of all children. Surviving are 4 children Frank (Bessie) Rusk of Webb City, MO, Rev. Richard Rusk of Belvidere NJ., Fred (Karen) Larson of Allegany, Paul (Carol) Rusk of Portville; 7 grand children Lee Ann (Ryan) Whitehead, Lynn Larson, Amanda (Ryan) West, Dr. Emily Larson, Steven Rusk, Andrew Rusk and Ryan (Holly) Larson; 4 great-grandchildren Casen, Hailey, Emerie, Ian and 3 more great grandchildren whose births she was joyfully looking forward to; 1 sister Dorothy Holocinski of Gowanda and 1 niece Jonette (Richard) Ewell of Portsmouth;, VA She was predeceased by two infant sons John F. Rusk and Joseph Rusk. There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at St. Mary of the Angels Church on Friday (February 29, 2008) at 10:00am. Her son, the Rev. Richard Rusk, will be the principal celebrant. Rev. Gregory Dobson, pastor, will concelebrate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Morning Star for Youth and the Youth Group, both sponsored by St. Mary of The Angels Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
