William J. Cousins, Sr. Olean, NY—William J. Cousins, Sr. of 330 Hamilton Ave. passed away Wednesday (July 2, 2008) in the Olean General Hospital after a short illness. Born January 26, 1928, he was the son of Albert and Beatrice Cousins, Sr. He was married to Jean Gordon who predeceased him October 1, 1999. Mr. Cousins was a building contractor in Olean for more that 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing in Canada and just being in the woods with his sons. Surviving are 2 sons William Cousins, Jr., and Russell Lee (Barbra) Cousins, both of Olean; 2 grandsons William Cousins, III and Russell Cousins, Jr. of Texas; 1 granddaughter Rena Wilber of Portville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents he was predeceased by 3 sisters Alberta Beaver, Virginia Morris and Marjorie Gordon; 1 brother Albert Cousins, Jr. and a daughter-in-law Deborah Cousins. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday (July 5, 2008) from 10:00am until 11:00am at which time funeral services will be held. Rev. Bert Tidlund will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Memorials may be made to the Weston Mills Volunteer Fire Department.
