Obituary of Bernadine R. Kuhn

Bernadine R. Kuhn Allegany, NY—Bernadine R. Kuhn of 4115 S. Nine Mile Rd. Lot 38, formerly of Spring Court Apartments passed away Friday (July 4, 2008) in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born December 21, 1920 in Lansing, MI she was the daughter of Frederick W. and Gertrude Schyler Hemmerly. On February 9, 1946 at St. John’s Church in Olean she married John J. Kuhn, Sr. who predeceased her June 9, 2008. Mrs. Kuhn was a 1940 graduate of Olean High School and resided in Olean most of her life. She had been employed at the former Kresge’s Store and also Chiavetta Brothers, both in Olean. She was a member of St. John’s Church and its Altar and Rosary Society. She had been a volunteer for the March of Dimes and was a former member of the Olean Senior League. She enjoyed bingo and had been truly dedicated to voter registration at Boardmanville Elementary school for many years. Surviving are 3 sons Lawrence (Judy) Kuhn of Weston’s Mills, Michael G. (Karen) Kuhn of Millsboro, DE and John J. (Bonnie) Kuhn, Jr. of Allegany; grandchildren; great grandchildren; 1 sister Virginia Hemmerly of Olean and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by 2 brothers Frederick Hemmerly, Jr. and Robert Hemmerly. Friends were received on Saturday from 7-9pm at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean. Visitation will continue today from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (July 7, 2008) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30am in the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. John’s Church. Rev. Gregory Dobson will be the celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. A scriptural wake service will be held this evening at 8:45pm in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Homecare and Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760.
