Donald L. Curran “Former Allegany Resident” Brooksville, FL Donald L. Curran of 8197 Ridge Dale Avenue died Monday (July 8, 2008) after a brief illness. Born in Belfast, NY he was the son of William and Margaret Murray Curran. On February 8, 1947, in Belfast, NY, he married Esther Wingert of Caneadea, NY, who predeceased him in 2000. Mr. Curran was a resident of Belfast for many years before moving to Allegany, NY, in 1956. He was employed as a district supervisor for the Market Basket Stores for more than forty years. He was also a former member of St. Bonaventure Church and the Allegany Knights of Columbus. In 1991 Don and Esther moved to Brooksville where he was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Brookridge Golf Association. Mr. Curran is survived by three sons, Joseph (Ellen) Curran of Pompano Beach, FL, Stephen (Kathy) Curran of Gastonia, NC, and Kevin (Judy) Curran of Portville, NY; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; his dear sister and brother in law, Helen and Bill Fetes of Kenmore, NY; a beloved sister in law Helen Wingert of St. Petersburg, FL; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife he was predeceased by a sister, Carm Nichols of Belfast, NY. Visitations will be held on Friday, July 11, 2008 at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean from 4 to 8 p.m. Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday (July 12, 2008) at 10:30 a.m. in St. Bonaventure Church, Allegany, NY. Burial will be held in St. Bonaventure Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
