Jean Schultz Allegany, NY—Jean Schultz of 2405 Keim Hollow Rd. passed away Sunday (December 7, 2008) in her home. Born July 13, 1928 in Eldred, PA she was the daughter of Todd and Monta Gold Perry. On January 18, 1948 in Eldred she married Howard “Merle” Schultz who survives. Mrs. Schultz had first been employed as a telephone operator in Eldred, PA prior to her marriage. For many years she served as the treasurer for the Allegany Cemetery Association, retiring in 2007. She was a longtime active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany and recently she enjoyed her time with the St. John’s Lutheran Church Quilting Group. Surviving besides her husband are 2 sons John (Sally) Schultz of Ischua and James (Nancy) Schultz of Hinsdale; 3 daughters Jane Guthrie of Allegany, Julie (Brian) Van Orman of Orange, CA and Joann (John) Cotner of Nacogdoches, TX; 16 grandchildren and great grandchildren; 1 sister Frances Ewing of Austin, TX; 1 brother Robert Perry of Lockport and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Jill M. Sokolowski on December 18, 1993. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Rd. Olean on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday (December 11, 2008) from 10:00am until 11:00am at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Allegany. Funeral and committal services will commence at 11:00am in the church. Rev. Gerard leFeber, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John’s Lutheran Church 36 N. 4th St. Allegany, NY 14706.
