Obituary of Eileen M. Nye

Eileen Nye “Dearest Grandma” Allegany—Eileen M. Nye of 2278 Sheldon Drive, passed away Thursday June 7, 2007 in The Waters of Allegany Health Care Facility. Born October 30, 1912 in Olean, she was the daughter of Walter J. and Laura Hurd Reinman. On May 14, 1949 in Reading Center, NY she married Frank Nye who predeceased her on March 26, 2000. Mrs. Nye graduated from Olean High School. She lived in Allegany, and spent most winters in Zephyr Hills, Florida. She was employed for Clark Brothers as a secretary and later for Owl Homes Inc, in Allegany. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Allegany where she was a former Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed traveling and did so extensively; she also loved entertaining and cooking, especially for her family. She liked to garden, crochet, knit, sew, read and do crossword puzzles. Surviving are three sons Gary (Joanne) Nye of Loudon, TN, Tom (Peg) Nye of Orchard Park, Walter (Michele) Nye of Woodland, TX; a daughter Cindy Wenke of Allegany and Paul Wenke of Olean; 10 grandchildren Kim (Eric) Henrickson, Kellie (Tim) Holt, Scott (Dawn) Nye, Laura Nye, Emily Nye, Jessica Nye, Alicia Nye, Adam Nye, Kevin Wenke, Jill (Joshua) Bernstein; 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by a brother John Reinman and a sister Cora Graham. Friends will be received at Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State Road, Olean on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday (June 11)at 11am, at the funeral home. Rev. Daniel !McKee, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Allegany will officiate. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
