Obituary of Wallace William Wang

Wallace William Wang, Sr. Portville, NY—Wallace William Wang, Sr. of the Haskell Road passed away Tuesday (June 12, 2007) in Key West, FL. Born March 19, 1924 in Madison, WI he was the son of William Conlan and Hulda Wang. On June 28, 1945 in Seattle, WA he married Jean Lorene Woods who predeceased him February 18, 2005. Mr. Wang was a 1942 graduate of Brainerd High School in MN and then served in the US Navy as a pilot during WWII. He then graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in MN in 1950 with a B.S. in Business Administration. He had a long career with ALCOA Aluminum, working with Wear-Ever in New Kensington, PA and later with Alcas Cutlery in Olean. He was a 40 year member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Olean. During retirement, he volunteered with Meals on Wheels and the American Red Cross. He was proud to have been sent to Florida to help after Hurricane Andrew. He also enjoyed instructing for the AARP Driver Safety Program. Surviving are 3 children Beverlee Wang of Key West, FL, Wallace “Bill” Wang, Jr. of Olean and Bruce (Judy) Wang of Honeoye Falls and 1 granddaughter Emily Brunke of Oberlin, OH. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held Saturday (July 7, 2007) at 11:00am in Bethany Lutheran Church in Olean. Rev. Marie Meeks, pastor, and Rev. Paula Roulette will co-officiate. A visitation and lunch will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite animal protection, church or veteran’s organization. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
