James W. Nellis Olean, NY—James W. Nellis of 3100 Cranberry Ct. Apts. #31 passed away Tuesday (November 6, 2007) in his home. Born March 27, 1941 in Emporium, PA he was the son of Charles and Lulabelle Shaylor Nellis. On June 28, 1971 in Florida he married Sharon L. Allen who survives. Mr. Nellis had formerly resided in Emporium, PA where he had been a truck driver for 25 years in various areas. He then resided in Vero Beach, FL where he worked as a landscape foreman, then for Don’s Import Auto and most recently for the First Church of God in Vero Beach. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed frequent road trips with his wife and friends. He also attended services at the Maplehurst Baptist Church. Surviving besides his wife are 3 sons Brian Darrin of Bessemer, NC, Alan Darrin of Buffalo and Stewart (Suzan) Darrin of Vero Beach, FL; 1 daughter Wendy Nellis of Olean; 10 grandchildren; 1 great grandson Xavier Darrin; 2 brothers Joseph Nellis and Robert Nellis, both of Emporium, PA; 3 sisters Virginia (Leo) Main, Joanne (Bill) Austin and Shirley Collins, all of Emporium, PA and several nieces and nephews. The family invites friends to a gathering at the commons area of Cranberry Court Apartments on Friday (November 9, 2007) at 2:00pm. Memorials may be made to the Maplehurst Baptist Church or to the American Lung Association. Arrangements are under the direction of the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, Olean.
