Obituary of Richard J. Pike

Richard J. Pike “Loving father and grandfather” Olean, NY—Richard J. Pike of 316 N. 2nd St. died Monday (November 19, 2007) in Absolut of Salamanca after a long illness. Born June 17, 1946 in Rochester, NY he was the son of Gordon E. and Virginia D. Lennon Pike. Mr. Pike attended school in Irondequoit, Rochester and Avon, and had been employed in the construction business prior to moving to the Weston’s Mills area. He worked for 25 years as a security guard for Potter Lumber Co. in Allegany. He also was employed for nine years by Arch Bishop Walsh High School in the maintenance department and as a bus driver, retiring due to ill health. In 1974 he joined the Weston’s Mills Volunteer Fire Department where he was a life member and primarily assisted with the fire police. He will be remembered as one who was dedicated to his family, his work and the fire department. Surviving are 4 children Tara (Michael) Evans of Olean, Kami (Randy) Carpenter of Cuba, Richard G. Pike of Olean and Ashley Pike of Olean; 4 grandchildren Savannah Evans, Ryan Evans, Casey Evans and Nathan Carpenter; 3 step grandchildren; 3 sisters Beverly (Bruce) Bailey of Bloomfield, Sandra (Barry Morse) Farr of Avon and Deborah (Richard) Ellis of Middlesex and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 1 brother Ronald G. Pike. Friends will be received at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home 3128 W. State St. Olean today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (November 21, 2007) at 10:00am in the funeral home. Rev. Willis Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Weston’s Mills Fire Department or to Homecare and Hospice 1225 W. State St. Olean, NY 14760.
