Portville- John M. Lengvarsky “Jack John”, 78, passed away peacefully Friday (August 18, 2023) at his home. Born June 15, 1945, in Olean, he was the son of John J. and Geraldine L. Lengvarsky. John was a 1965 graduate of Allegany Central High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1965 and served until 1969. After the service he went on to be a Millwright and Welder for Norlite LLC. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing trips to Canada, and spending time with his family and friends. John is survived by his 5 siblings Priscilla (James) Stark of Olean, Darla Lengvarsky of Olean, William Lengvarsky of Florida, Edward (Pat) Lengvarsky of Florida and Donald (Denise) Lengvarsky of Allegany. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Janet Boon. Friends will be received on Wednesday, (August 23, 2023) from 4:00 pm to 6:00pm at the Casey, Halwig and Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 West State Road, Olean. The funeral service will begin at 6:00 pm. The burial, with military funeral honors, will be at Five Mile Cemetery Monday, August 28, 2023, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, 665 Elm St, Buffalo, NY 14203.
